CoolSculpting technology safely delivers precisely controlled cooling to gently and effectively target the fat cells underneath the skin while leaving the skin itself unaffected. The treated fat cells are crystallized (frozen), then die. Over time, your body naturally processes the fat and eliminates these dead cells, leaving a more sculpted you. We will help you create an individualized treatment plan tailored to your specific goals.

During your treatment, a gel pad and applicator are applied to the targeted area. Applicators that use a vacuum will draw the tissue into the applicator cup. You may feel pulling, tugging, and mild pinching. Controlled cooling is then delivered to the targeted fat so you may feel intense cold but this sensation typically subsides within 10 minutes as the area becomes numb. Once the treated fat cells are crystallized (frozen), the body naturally processes the fat and eliminates the dead cells. Once the treated fat cells are gone, they are gone for good.

The CoolSculpting® procedure has a 95% patient satisfaction rate. While some patients may see results as early as 3 weeks after their session, most dramatic results are usually seen 1-3 months after treatment.

Also known as Radial Pulse Therapy, Z Wave technology works by transmitting powerful sound waves into the targeted tissue, which then dissipates radially throughout the tissue to enhance the CoolSculpting treatment’s long-lasting effects. The body responds to the powerful sound waves by increasing metabolic activity and improving blood circulation. In the end, the appearance of cellulite will improve while also boosting the results of the CoolSculpting.

Who is a good candidate for CoolSculpting?

Good candidates have noticeable bulges in certain areas they’d like to get rid of. The CoolSculpting fat reduction procedure is specifically designed for those who have unwanted fat that resists diet and exercise. Unlike gastric bypass surgery, the CoolSculpting procedure is not a weight loss solution for people who are obese. It is, however, a non-surgical alternative to liposuction. Request a one-on-one consultation with a CoolSculpting provider who will determine if the CoolSculpting procedure is right for you.

How does CoolSculpting work?

CoolSculpting uses suction and cooling technology that freezes target areas, therefore killing fat cells underneath the skin. The lymph system then flushes out these dead cells. As the fat cells are removed from the body, the area where those fat cells were removed gets smaller and more contoured.

How many CoolSculpting treatments will I need?

The number of total CoolSculpting sessions will be dependent on the size of the area treated, the number of areas, and the ultimate desired outcome. This can all be determined and planned for in the initial free consultation.

Is CoolSculpting painful?

There is some mild, temporary discomfort due to the initiation of strong suction and extreme cold. You may experience sensations of pulling, mild pinching, tingling, stinging or cramping. However, as the temperature falls, there is a numbing effect and most patients sit comfortably during the treatment reading, watching television, or even napping. There may be some hypersensitivity of the skin in the treated area post-treatment, but this general disappears in several days. There may also be some tenderness or soreness for about a week – similar to muscle soreness after a strong workout session. Patients are usually able to return to normal activities immediately post-treatment.

When will I see my CoolSculpting results?

Results may be seen as early as 1 to 3 months after treatment. You will initially experience some mild inflammation and swelling to the treated area. This should resolve within one to two weeks, then it will take another few weeks to see a noticeable difference. Full results from that session should be achieved within 12 weeks. Many patients require more than one treatment session to achieve their desired results. So, we schedule a follow-up appointment (including before and after photos and weight) 3 months after initial treatment to assess results and schedule future sessions, if needed.

Where does your fat go after CoolSculpting?

Once the fat cells are crystallized, they shrink and die. They are naturally and permanently eliminated from your body.

How long is each CoolSculpting treatment?

Our CoolSculpting specialist will help you create an individualized treatment plan tailored to your specific goals. The length of your CoolSculpting session will vary depending on the number of areas being treated during one visit.

Is CoolSculpting a weightloss procedure?

No, CoolSculpting is not a weight-loss procedure. Instead, it’s a fat-reduction treatment. It may be confusing to hear that reducing fat is not the same as losing weight. It’s all about what happens to the fat cells.

  • Immediately after the procedure, your treated area may look or feel stiff and transient blanching (temporary whitening of the skin) may occur.

  • You may feel a sense of nausea or dizziness as your body naturally warms and sensation returns to your treatment area. These are normal reactions that typically resolve within minutes.

  • The treated area may be red for up to a few hours after the applicator is removed. This is an expected but temporary  effect after the CoolSculpting procedure.

  • Bruising, swelling and tenderness can occur in the treated area. This typically resolves within a week or two.

  • Nausea and tingling, stinging and cramping in the treatment area are often reported on treatment day.

  • You may feel a temporary dulling of sensation in the treated area. This is normal and typically resolves within a few hours but may last for several weeks after your procedure.

  • There typically is minimal recovery time after the CoolSculpting procedure. Most patients can return to their daily routine immediately after the procedure.

  • It is common for the treated area to feel bloated and look swollen in the first few days and weeks after the CoolSculpting procedure.

  • You may experience a temporary dulling of sensation that can last for several weeks.

  • At some point within the first two weeks following the procedure, you may experience one or more of the following sensations: deep itching, tingling, numbness, tenderness to the touch, pain in the treated area, strong cramping, diarrhea, muscle spasms, aching and/or soreness. Consult your doctor if these conditions persist beyond two weeks or worsen over time.

  • Following the procedure, a gradual reduction in the thickness of the fat layer will take place. You may start to see changes as early as three weeks after the CoolSculpting procedure and you will experience the most dramatic results after one to three months. Your body will continue naturally to process the injured fat cells from your body for approximately four months after your procedure.

  • In rare cases, patients have experienced vasovagal symptoms during the treatment, and reported freeze burn, darker skin color, hardness, discrete nodules or enlargement of the treated area. Surgical intervention may be required to correct the enlargement.
